Sun Ninja Hits the Sand at the 2026 US Open of Surfing
- by Rob Cohen
There are beach days, and then there’s the US Open of Surfing.
This summer, Sun Ninja headed to Huntington Beach, California, as an official sponsor of the 2026 US Open of Surfing - bringing our signature shade, beach gear, and plenty of Sun Ninja energy to one of the biggest celebrations of surf culture in the world.
For a brand built around making days at the beach better, it was pretty much our natural habitat.
With thousands of surf fans hitting the sand to watch the action, a little shade goes a long way.
We set up 32 Sun Ninja Beach Tents across the event, creating free shaded areas where spectators could get out of the California sun, cool down, and recharge before heading back to the action.
It was Sun Ninja doing what Sun Ninja does best: making a great day at the beach even better.
And with our tents dotted across Huntington Beach throughout the event, it was also an incredible opportunity to introduce Sun Ninja to beach lovers from across the country and around the world.
We didn't just bring the shade.
Throughout the event, we gave away more than 1,000 Sun Ninja products, putting our gear directly into the hands of the surfers, spectators, families, and beachgoers who make events like the US Open so special.
For us, there’s no better way to experience Sun Ninja than actually using it at the beach.
The US Open gave us the perfect opportunity to meet our community, introduce the brand to a whole lot of new people, and share some Sun Ninja gear along the way.
The Exclusive Sun Ninja x WSL Collection
The event also marked the launch of something special: our exclusive Sun Ninja x WSL Collection.
Created in collaboration with the World Surf League, the limited-edition range brought together the unmistakable WSL identity with some of our favorite Sun Ninja beach essentials.
It was a collaboration that made perfect sense. Surfing and Sun Ninja share the same playground - the beach - and a love for spending as much time there as possible.
The collection made its debut at Huntington Beach, giving US Open visitors the chance to see the products up close at our on-site retail booth.
One of the best parts of the US Open is that it isn't only about what happens in the water.
The entire beachfront comes alive.
Between the surfing, crowds, music, activations, brands, athletes, and endless stream of people heading up and down the sand, Huntington Beach becomes one giant celebration of beach culture.
Our on-site retail booth put Sun Ninja right in the middle of it.
It gave us the chance to meet customers face-to-face, showcase our gear, introduce the new WSL collaboration, and hear directly from the people who use our products for their own beach adventures.
After building Sun Ninja one beach day at a time, seeing the brand represented on this kind of stage was a pretty special moment.
The US Open of Surfing is big, busy, sunny, sandy, and just a little chaotic.
In other words, exactly the kind of beach day Sun Ninja was built for.
Our goal has always been simple: create beach gear that makes it easier to stay longer, stay comfortable, and enjoy more of the day.
Seeing 32 Sun Ninja tents doing exactly that at one of the world's most iconic surfing events was a great reminder of why we started.
And while the competition eventually wrapped up and Huntington Beach returned to normal, we're only getting started.
Expect to see more from Sun Ninja as we continue partnering with great brands and events, creating exclusive collaborations, and finding new ways to make the world's best beach days even better.
